Southern Cross DEC S outhern Cross School K-12 Distance Education Centre offers schooling to those students in Years 7 to 12 unable to attend mainstream schools or who need to study a subject not offered at their home school.
The centre caters for secondary Distance Education students from Coffs Harbour in the south to Tweed Heads and West to Inverell.

From 1995 the centre has been located in the former administration block of Southern Cross School K-12.

The centre caters for years 7-12 with a current enrolment of 160 full-time and 350 single-course students.

Apart from scheduled mini-schools where students are invited to attend Southern Cross School K-12 for the day, teachers also meet students in their local libraries and make regular home visits.

Parents and supervisors can also attend information and training sessions at the school.

The unit is an Integrated Distance Education Centre where secondary staff teach in both face-to-face and distance education modes.
