The support unit currently consists of:
All students study Maths, English, Science, Languages and HSIE towards their Life Skills, School and Higher School Certificates in our classes.
Students also receive mainstream instruction in PD/Health/PE, Design & Technology, Art, Music, Drama, Computing and Food Technology.
Sport Afternoon Regular and occasional excursions are part of our Life Skills and Community Access programs and our students attend appropriate TAFE courses within the district.
We have an extensive and comprehensive Work Experience
Program, beginning with pre-work experience activities in year 7
through to two-days-per week work participation in year 12.
Propagating plants at the farm. Plants are for sale at school and all
proceeds go to the support unit.
Some of our students participate in meaningful work in
our nursery and mowing crews at Summerland House
each Wednesday.
Some students remain at school and take part in the Office Skills program.
The support unit runs a weekly School Car Wash in which both students
and staff participate.
Senior students also help organise and participate in
Individual Work Placements at various work sites
around the district.
Support students integrate with their mainstream peers each day in rollcall, recess and lunch periods. All carnivals and some PE classes are combined. Individual students can be integrated in mainstream classes.
The support units have a 20 seater Variety Club Sunshine Bus and trailer which makes the above programs possible.
