Getting To School
Free bus travel is available to all children in classes K-2.
Students in classes 3-6 are eligible for free travel if they live further than 1.6 km
distance on a radius from the centre of the school site rather than
by the nearest practicable walking route.
To be eligible for free travel, any student in Years 7-12 must
now reside more than 2 kilometres (radial distance) from the school,
or 2.9 kilometres or more by the most practicable walking
route to the nearest point of entry to the school.
Students who do not fall within the free travel
category may apply for special consideration on safety, medical,
or other special grounds.
These applications are made to and assessed by the
Department of Transport.
Two local bus companies, Kirklands & Blanch's, provide transport to school.
You can contact either the school or the bus company
to find out which company services your address.
Blanch's brings children from West Ballina and Lennox Head.
Kirklands brings children from Ballina Island and East Ballina.

Road and Bus Safety
No matter how your child travels to school, safety is the
important issue. This is especially important when a child first
first starts school as they are often unsure or excited.
Catching a bus at school can initially
be a difficult task for a young child.
Check that they know how to get on, behave properly
on the bus and get off safely.
We can help you to organise a responsible older student
to accompany your child on the bus.
